Is Kartik Aaryan being considered to play male lead opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai'?

As per reports, Kartik Aaryan is in the running to play the male lead opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming directorial 'Gangubai'.

Even after Inshallah being shelved, Alia Bhatt has been making constant visits to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's office. This hinted that they must be working on a new project and most likely Gangubai. Earlier while talking about this film, SLB had revealed that he wants Priyanka Chopra Jonas to play the titular role in it. He told Mumbai Mirror, "I love the story, it’s been with me for long and I’m keen to make the film. Priyanka and I are in talks."

But it seems like SLB has moved on to Alia for the film but nothing has been confirmed yet. Recently it was also reported that he approached Ranbir Kapoor for the male lead but the actor turned down the offer. On Sunday, Kartik Aaryan was snapped while making his way out of SLB's office and the reports started making the rounds that he is also in the running to play the male lead opposite Alia.

Earlier when the tabloid asked Priyanka if she was approached for the film, the actor had said, "I haven’t signed a Hindi film yet… I’m a fan of Sanjay Bhansali in whatever he makes, I’ll always be his fan."

Meanwhile, Sanjay was all set to start shooting for Inshallah with Salman Khan and Alia. However, just a couple of days before the film was set to go on floors, the superstar opted out of the film and it has been put on the backburner now.

If not Inshallah, SLB is making sure to collaborate with Alia in Gangubai.
